How We're Closing the Gap

Financial literacy changes lives when it reaches people where they are—in their homes, schools, and communities. We fund, create, and develop programs that make financial knowledge accessible, actionable, and lasting.

These are some of the programs through which we're making that happen.

Planning for Every Family

Planning for Every Family

More than 42 million Americans are part of a family that includes a member with special needs. Yet special needs planning is an underserved area, regardless of economic status.

Through a partnership with Brookes Publishing and AI developer CSIsim, the Foundation is creating an avatar-based program grounded in The Special Needs Planning Guide by Cindy Haddad and John Nadworny.

The program will allow a network of tens of thousands of families, educators, and financial advisors to interact with the authors' expertise alongside vetted outside resources, bringing critical planning knowledge directly to the families, educators, and advisors navigating it.

Small Good Choices

Small Good Choices®

Small Good Choices® applies the concept of Kaizen—continuous improvement through small, incremental action—to personal finance.

Available as weekly prompts or an on-demand web resource, Small Good Choices® provides individuals, families, educators, and business owners with simple, actionable ideas to incorporate into their daily financial lives.

By encouraging one small change at a time, the program builds lasting habits that lead to meaningful financial outcomes.

Intergenerational Planning

Intergenerational Planning

Very few families take the time to document the values, experiences, and beliefs that shape how they think about money. The Family Constitution Project provides a template for doing just that, helping individuals and families create a living document that grows and evolves across generations.

The Family Constitution captures knowledge that, when passed down, can guide future generations toward greater stability and confidence. It can include:

  • Family history and how you got here

  • The people who shaped your family's path

  • Lessons learned—successes and failures

  • Core family values and beliefs

  • How your family thinks and talks about money
